Modules are one of the first things users see when they land on Connectr so making them clear, inviting, and well-structured is key to driving engagement. When built thoughtfully, modules act as a bridge between sign-up and deeper interaction, offering useful insights, learning opportunities, and a natural way to guide users through your platform.
What are Modules, Tasks and Parts?
Connectr content is built in three layers, like chapters in a book:
Modules – the big picture
Modules are broad themes or topics, like folders that house your content. They set the tone and context. Examples include:
Welcome to Our Company
Application Advice
Understanding Our Values
Exploring Roles at [Your Organisation]
💡 Add “Coming Soon” modules to tease upcoming content and encourage users to return.
Tasks – the subtopics
Tasks are the individual lessons or sections within a module. They break down the theme into smaller chunks, such as:
Crafting Your CV
Nailing Your Video Interview
The History of Connectr
Each task should focus on one subject only. If your topic starts to sprawl, split it into two tasks to keep things clear and manageable.
📌 You may have a limit on how many published tasks your platform allows. Speak to your Customer Success Manager if this becomes a barrier.
💡 Use “mandatory” or “locking” functions to guide the order of completion or highlight priority content.
Parts – the user experience
Parts are the pages users see and interact with as they work through a task. You can use a range of formats to suit different content and learning styles:
Text & Image (4 layout styles)
Embedded Video (YouTube or Vimeo)
Quizzes (5 types: Likert scale, free text, multiple choice, single choice, document upload)
Resource downloads (e.g. worksheets, PDFs)
💡 Top tip: Each task should include around 5–6 parts for the best flow and engagement.
Start with your learning outcomes
Before writing, ask yourself:
What should users understand, feel, or do after completing this module?
Maybe you want them to:
Learn how to write a standout CV
Feel excited about joining your company
Apply for a role after understanding your team culture
Sketching this out first helps keep your content focused and meaningful.
✏️ Try storyboarding: Use pen and paper to map out your module. List the outcomes, themes, and ideas, then match them to tasks and part types. It’s a great way to visualise the user journey before building it. Here's a good introduction to Storyboarding.
Keep it human
Your goal is to replicate a supportive, engaging human interaction. Use clear, welcoming language and avoid jargon. And always read your content through the lens of the learner. If it feels too long, too formal, or too abstract, simplify it.
💡A copy of your module can be used to encourage mentor connections. For example, if you’re writing a few paragraphs on why it’s great to work for your company, why not suggest that your users ask a mentor what they like about the business culture?
Get support & inspiration
Need help getting started? Ask your Customer Success Manager for access to Plug & Play modules, which are ready-made content on common topics that you can copy or customise. Use these existing modules as templates to inspire your own.
Final thoughts
Modules aren’t just containers for information, they're powerful tools to build confidence, spark curiosity, and guide users along their learning journey. With a little planning and creativity, you can turn your content into something that’s not only informative but also inspiring.
Let your content reflect the experience you want your users to have, and they’ll keep coming back for more.
